DAY 0: WELCOME TO KENYA

Guests will be met by their BrushBuck guides at the airport and transferred to the hotel where they will be able to decompress after long travels. We will enjoy a welcome orientation dinner and retire early to rest for the following days’ adventures!

DAY 1: BOAT ADVENTURE TO CRESCENT ISLAND AND WALK

Guests will be picked up at the hotel and will depart for Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, a peninsula in the middle of Lake Naivasha. The island is home to over 1600 head of game and hundreds of bird species. Parts of the famous movie “Out of Africa” were filmed at Crescent Island. Upon arrival, we will take a boat ride over the lake to the island where we will walk among the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and other African species. This is truly a wildlife rich haven where we can walk trails and experience wildlife like no other!

DAY 2: LAKE NAKURU TO MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

In the morning, we will spend a few hours in Lake Nakuru National Park looking for rhinoceros before heading to the Masai Mara. The Masai Mara, also called The Mara, is one of the most renowned wildlife conservation and wilderness areas in Africa! It holds exceptional populations of lion, leopard, cheetah and African bush elephant. It is also the site of the Great Migration, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, and one of the ten Wonders of the World. We often see herds of cows, goats and small villages along the way. We can stop at small shops for homemade souvenirs that support the local communities. Upon reaching the park, we will start to see many species of wildlife! Let your safari adventure begin!

DAY 3: MORNING AND EVENING GAME DRIVES IN THE MASAI MARA

Have your cameras ready as we depart for sunrise game viewing! Guests may have opportunities to see predators on the hunt or massive herds of wildebeest moving across the beautiful landscapes. We will go out with the goal of seeing the Big Five which are Cape Buffalo, rhinoceros, elephant, lion and leopard. Other species such as Thomson’s gazelle, eland, topi, hartebeest and hippopotamus may also be seen.

DAY 4: FULL DAY MASAI MARA WILDLIFE AND CULTURE

Departing early, guests will have the opportunity to observe, photograph and video more animal sightings along the way to the Maasai Village. Our local Kenya guides will communicate over the radio for the best sightings of lions, leopards, cheetahs and more! At the village, the Maasai Tribe will show us their traditional dances, songs and give a tour of their huts. On the way back to the lodge, we will have the opportunity for more wildlife sightings including many bird species. Back at the lodge, we will settle in for drinks and dinner!

DAY 5: MASAI MARA TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

We will have an early morning departure for Keekorok airstrip to fly to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. We will clear customs upon arrival and travel to our hotel to settle in. Should there be time, we will head out for an evening Serengeti game drive in our open top safari trucks!

DAY 6: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK SAFARI

Today, we will drive through the Mara River in the golden light of dawn looking for special photographic opportunities of wildebeest and zebras taking the cold plunge to cross the glittering waters of the Mara River as well as other wildlife interactions. Witnessing the river crossing takes patience, as the herd will often take hours to decide whether to cross, weighing the risk of crocodiles and the strength of the river’s current. Late in the afternoon, we will have another game drive searching for different wildlife interactions around Mara River and Wogakuria kopjes area during sunset and softer light for photography dinner.

DAY 7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

On this last day of our safari, we will have already had many wildlife sightings. Now, we will be able to spend more time observing them in a more intimate way, such as mothers with babies or potentially natural predation. Spending time with the animals will give us a chance to see the deeper dynamics of these incredible creatures. We will continue working to get our bird sighting lists to over 150 species!!

DAY 8: SERENGETI TO KILIMANJARO-GOODBYES

After an early breakfast, we will head to the Kogatende airstrip to board our flights for Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha where you will meet your homebound flights!

  • A traveler’s wallet is suggested with two (2) credit cards and at least one ATM card. Tell your bank where you are going otherwise they will shut your cards off for fraud protection. It is advisable to keep $1000 USD in small bills ($20’s, $10’s, and $5’s) on hand throughout the vacation along with local currency.
  • Weather is mildly cold (60 degrees Fahrenheit) to very hot (100+ Fahrenheit). We suggest packing thin long sleeve shirts, thin pants or zip off pants as these prevent sunburns and bug bites. For cooler nights and early mornings, be sure to pack a medium weight jacket. Laundry service is available and saves a lot of packing.
  • Currency in Kenya is the Kenyan shilling. The currency in Tanzania is the Tanzanian shilling. Both can be withdrawn at the ATM or bank upon arrival, although all shops usually accept USD. Call your bank to let them know you are traveling!
  • Trip insurance is required on all Africa tours.

  • No refunds or date changes after Trip Finalization Date
  • A full refund is available within the first 30 days of the booking, except for bookings made within 60 days of the departure date
  • A 50% refund is available 31 days after booking up until your Trip Finalization Date
