TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:

Day 1: The Adventure Begins in the Desert Southwest!

We begin by picking up guests at the Tucson airport or the surrounding area. Once we are all together we will head for the beautiful San Xavier Del Bac Spanish Mission!  Built in the late 1600’s and into the 1700’s we will be able to see the rich Spanish history that shaped so much of the southwest. Departing the mission we will have a beautiful sunset drive into Madera Canyon where we will settle in for the evening.

Meal Plan: Guests will be at leisure for dinner in the area

Day 2: Madera Canyon/Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum/Saguaro National Park

Wake up bright and early to take a hike into one of the best areas to see the wildlife of southern Arizona! Mammals we may see are mule deer, coues white-tailed deer, javelina, coatimundi, along with many species of birds such as the elegant trogon, Arizona woodpeckers, and many more! (see birds list) After our morning walk we depart for the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum to see desert wildlife up close and personal. The hummingbird aviary is among one of the best in the world! We will end the day with back lit saguaros as the sunsets on the Bajada Loop scenic drive in Saguaro National Park.

Day 3: Tombstone History & Chiricahua National Monument

We start the day with a scenic drive through what is known as the “Land Of Legends” as this was the stomping grounds of Geronimo, Cochise, General Crook, Wyatt Earp and Johnny Ringo. Adventure guests will have the opportunity to see the famous Boot Hill Graveyard, the re-enactment shootout and tour the Tombstone area. We then depart for the “wonderland of rocks’’ to spend the afternoon in Chiricahua National Monument. Expect odd shaped rocks, beautiful overlooks of the “sky islands” and wildlife sightings along the way.

Day 4: The Chiricahua Mountains – Elegant Trogon & Best Birding in North America!

Today we head out to look for the elegant trogon and tour the Portal area! Known as one of the best places for birding in North America, guests will be excited at the diversity of species. Expect more beautiful mountain scenery and star gazing will be available after the desert darkness sets in.

Day 5: Return to Tucson

Today we depart Cave Creek to head to Tucson and say our goodbyes. We will travel through beautiful Arizona landscapes and stop for pictures along the way before departing.
