Join Brushbuck Wildlife Tours on safari to the scenic scrubland of Samburu. This 8 day, 7 night Kenya safari tour gives a great insight into Kenya’s diverse landscapes and wildlife. Guests will visit the world famous Bird Sanctuary of Lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara- Kenya’s most popular game park, with the possibility of seeing all the big five and many other species of game.

This safari operates between July to October – during the annual great wildebeest migration where of millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle from the Serengeti Plains cross the Tanzania border and the Mara River to reach the Maasai Mara grazing fields.

During this safari you will be accompanied by an English speaking tour guide and transported in comfortable 4×4 tour vans. Below you will find the full itinerary and tour dates through 2020.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Nairobi

Guests will be picked up from the airport upon arrival and transferred to The Panari Hotel for overnight stay in readiness for your safari the following morning.

Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Guests will be picked up from The Panari Hotel at 0730 hours. We’ll start the day with a safari briefing session with our tour officer then start the journey passing the majestic Mt. Kenya en route to the open Savannah of Samburu Game Reserve. Guests will have lunch at a camp then proceed for afternoon game drives.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodations: Samburu Ashnil Camp (or similar)

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve

Guests will spend a full day exploring the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers and forests of the Samburu Game Reserve. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage. The reserves have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife including: leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the sanctuaries.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park

We break the camp soon after breakfast and proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park. Game is viewed as we exit the park. Lunch en-route followed by an afternoon game drive or relax at the hotel. Lake Nakuru, a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley, is renowned for its spectacular flamingo population as one of the world’s greatest ornithological spectacles.

Although Lake Nakuru is primarily a bird sanctuary, there are a considerable number of animals to be encountered, such as many large game animals including: zebras, elephants and gazelles. This is one of our best chances of seeing rhinos. Lake Nakuru National Park was the first place in Kenya selected as a rhino reserve. Here is one of the few places where we can see Rothschild’s giraffes.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve

We break the camp soon after breakfast and travel south through the beautiful savannahs and plains of the Rift Valley where we’ll reach our base camp site. Guests will enjoy another evening out in the bush under the far-reaching African sky.

Game such as elephant, zebra, topi, wildebeest, wart hog, and gazelle can be seen along with predators such as lion, hyena, and cheetah. We will proceed to Ashnil Mara Camp, Luxury Tented Camp in The Masai Mara, to settle in for the night and enjoy the company of Masai storytellers by the fire.

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Guests will spend the next two days on game drives exploring the Masai Mara. The open grasslands are home to incredibly rich and varied wildlife. The annual migration of millions of wildebeest and antelope is the highlight of any visit to Africa from July to October.

Optional balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of $450 USD per person.

The Maasai Mara Game Reserve the most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya. Guests traveling from June to October can witness the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle from the Serengeti Plains across the Tanzania border and the Mara River to reach the Maasai Mara grazing fields. The dramatic crossing of the river and the preying on the migrants by predators can be viewed from early July to August. The reserve abounds with birdlife since dose to about 452 species have been recorded.

Day 7: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

Guests will enjoy morning game drives to see more wildlife and then proceed to Nairobi to arrive by 3 p.m. where you will be dropped off at Sarova Panafric
Hotel for overnight stay.

Accommodations: Sarova Panafric (or similar)

Day 8:  Nairobi – Departure

Breakfast at guest’s leisure then you will be transferred to the airport to board your home bound flight.
